Cannabis confiscated in Tsumkwe area

OTJIWARONGO, 24 JAN (NAMPA) - Three men aged 22, 29, and 32 have been arrested for possession of cannabis at the Rooidag Gate in the Tsumkwe Constituency.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Thursday they were arrested after the police found parcels of cannabis stashed under the seats of their vehicle.
“The cannabis has an estimated street value of nearly N.dollars 33 000,” she said.
Mbeha said the two suspects aged 22 and 29 were arrested on the spot Tuesday, while the 32-year-old fled into the bushes.
“We arrested him Wednesday morning after an intensive pursuit was launched,” said Mbeha.
The men were allegedly driving from Rundu in the Kavango East to Tsumkwe at the time of their arrest.
They are expected to appear in the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Police investigations continue.
