Alleged drug dealing case postponed to March

WINDHOEK, 23 JAN (NAMPA)- Five people arrested last year for the illegal possession of drugs and ammunition appeared before the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where their case was postponed to 15 March 2019.
The accused- Quinton Owoseb, Elliot Doeseb, Imelda Aoses, Grace Goliath and Mbanga Sandra appeared before Windhoek Magistrate Atutala Namwenyo Shikalepo.
The matter was postponed to allow the accused to apply for legal aid through the Ministry of Justice’s Legal Aid Directorate and for laboratory tests to be conducted on the drugs confiscated.
They were all arrested on 21 August 2018, close to the 7 de Laan informal settlement in the capital, after they were allegedly found dealing in illicit drugs.
These included, 29 Mandrax tablets worth N.dollars 3 480 and 60 parcels of cannabis valued at N.dollars 1 350.
Quinton Owoseb was charged on two counts, one of dealing in potentially dangerous dependence producing drugs and for the illegal possession of ammunition.
His co-accused were each charged for dealing in dependence producing drugs and for the possession of dependence producing substance.
Four of the accused are out on bail for N.dollars 1 000 while Owaseb is free on bail N.dollars 2000.
Public prosecutor Pieter Johannes Smit appeared for the State.
