ONGWEDIVA, 15 JAN (NAMPA) – The Namibia Schools Sport Union (NSSU) in the Omusati Region will hold its annual consultative mass meeting at the youth centre in Outapi this Friday.
Omusati NSSU chairperson, Vaino Shimutwikeni told Nampa in an interview Tuesday that teachers, members of school management and sport organisers across the region are expected to attend the meeting, which starts at 09h00.
“The teachers will discuss last year’s activities to plan the route for the 2019 sports calendar in the region,” stated Shimutwikeni.
He noted that the meeting is important because regional school sport leaders will engage experts from the Namibia Chess Federation and Athletics Namibia as they plan to implement the two sports codes in the region this year.
Other items to be discussed during the meeting include a teachers’ tournament, coaching clinics for various sport codes, as well as proper training for athletes.
“The region has improved drastically in various codes and it remains our prerogative to sustain and put our region on the national and international map,” said the Omusati NSSU chairperson.
He then commended all teachers who have devoted their time to ensuring that sports thrive in the region.
He urged all those invited to take the time to attend Friday’s meeting.
Sport officers from the regional Directorate of Education are also anticipated to participate.
NSSU Chairperson for Oshana, Jonny Martin also confirmed that his region will host a consultative meeting with its stakeholders this Friday.
“The main aim is to develop and improve sport amongst school-going children in Oshana,” Martin said.
