Man drowns in Etaka pan

ONGWEDIVA, 10 JAN (NAMPA) – A 46-year-old man from Onyamangunda village of the Onesi Constituency of the Omusati Region allegedly drowned in the Etaka pan at Oshihau village on Sunday.
Warrant Officer Anna Kunga of the Public Relations unit in the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) here confirmed to Nampa on Thursday that Iiyambo Ismael was bathing in the said pan along with his two siblings when he drowned at around 19h00.
“It is alleged that the deceased was last seen bathing in the dam together with his two siblings and later disappeared underwater,” Kunga explained.
The deceased's body was found floating on the surface of the water in the pan at around 04h00 on Monday.
Although no foul play is suspected, Kunga said police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
“The body was transported to the police mortuary at Okahao for a post-mortem to be conducted,” noted Kunga.
Ismael’s next of kin are already informed about his death.
