Man stabs brother during quarrel over girl

WINDHOEK, 08 JAN (NAMPA) – A 20-year-old man allegedly stabbed his older brother at Aminuis in the Omaheke Region at around 23h50 on Sunday.
According to a crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force on Tuesday, the two brothers were allegedly involved in a quarrel over a girl, which led to the younger sibling stabbing the 24-year-old victim.
The victim, according to the report, is in a critical condition in Gobabis State Hospital and police investigation continues.
In a similar incident, Willemina Dreyer, 42, died after she was allegedly stabbed twice with a knife in the neck and chest by her former boyfriend between 12h00 and 13h00 at Karasburg in the //Kharas Region on Sunday.
It is alleged that the two had been arguing earlier that day but the motive for the argument is still unknown.
The 62-year-old boyfriend was arrested and the next of kin were informed.
In Bethanie, also in //Kharas Region, the body of Jacob Riekert, 63, was found partly decomposed after his neighbours noticed a pungent smell emanating from his residence at 08h00 on Saturday.
The victim was seen having a disagreement with two men on New Year’s Day and a 31-year-old was arrested while the other is still on the run.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed of his death.
