REHOBOTH, 08 JAN (NAMPA) - A 32-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death on a farm in the Maltahöhe District on New Year’s Day, made his first appearance in court on Friday.
Frans Abraham appeared in the Maltahöhe Magistrate’s Court before Acting Magistrate Hermanus Fleermuys on a charge of murder. His case was postponed to 14 January to allow for further police investigations and for his legal aid application to be finalised.
It is alleged that the accused stabbed Elizabeth Swartbooi, 31, in the stomach with a sharp object between 01h00 and 03h00 on New Year’s Day at Farm Spesbona. She was taken to the Mariental State Hospital, where she succumbed to her injury.
Abraham was denied bail as police investigations are still in the early stages.
He is being detained at the Maltahöhe Police Station holding cells.
