KEETMANSHOOP, 07 JAN (NAMPA) – The //Kharas Regional Council’s Chief Regional Officer (CRO), Beatus Kasete has said he is committed to the success of the council and to serving the people of the region.
The former Otjozondjupa Regional Council planning and development director was appointed as CRO last November after serving in his previous position for 13 years.
Kasete commenced duty on 02 January, filling a position which has been vacant since 2017.
Saul Kahuika was the previous CRO.
In an interview with Nampa on Monday, Kasete said it is an honour and privilege to be appointed.
“I am committed to serving the council to the best of my ability and I hope my experience will help me,” he said.
Kasete noted that he plans to implement the resolutions taken by the council and to drive its strategic plan.
As he is new to the region, he is planning familiarisation visits to acquaint himself with the challenges and opportunities within the region.
“I will then draw up a road map for the next five years,” he stated.
The CRO said he is confident that opportunities abound in //Kharas.
Kasete also said he has a good, dedicated team and if they put their heads together and pull in the same direction, they can make a success of the region.
“Opportunities are there and if we work together, we can make a better //Kharas Region,” he said.
