Woman allegedly assaulted and raped at Oshivelo

WINDHOEK, 05 JAN (NAMPA) - A 22-year-old man allegedly assaulted and raped a woman at Oshivelo on Wednesday.
According to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) crime report issued on Friday, the suspect beat his 37-year-old victim with a stick and pulled her into an empty building, where he reportedly raped her.
The suspect, who is said to be a friend of the victim’s boyfriend, has been arrested.
In an unrelated incident, a man was assaulted with an unknown object around 01h00 at Ondingandinga village in the Okaku Constituency on Friday.
The victim sustained head injuries and was admitted to the Oshakati State Hospital in a serious, but stable, condition.
No arrests have been made in connection with the matter yet.
In another matter, one person died in an accident involving an unlicensed driver along the Tsandi-Okahao main road Thursday night.
The police reported that the unlicensed driver of the Toyota pick-up had taken the vehicle without the owner’s consent.
He lost control over the vehicle and it left the road, crashed into a tree and overturned, causing the death of a passenger in the pick-up around 22h40.
The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Oshakati State Hospital in critical condition.
The deceased has not yet been identified.
