Toddler burns beyond recognition in Outapi

WINDHOEK, 04 JAN (NAMPA) – A two-year-old toddler on Tuesday burned beyond recognition after a shack she was in caught fire at Okakwa location in Outapi.
The incident happened at around 21h00.
According to the Namibian Police Force’s (NamPol) crime report, issued here Thursday, the deceased, identified as Selma Ndinomwene Tuhafeni, was left alone in the shack while her father went to a nearby place in the same location.
Neighbours saw the fire and heard the toddler crying. They tried to rescue the child but all their efforts were unsuccessful, as the blaze grew fiercer.
The next of kin have been informed, and the child’s body was taken to the Okahao police mortuary for a post mortem to be conducted to determine the real cause of death.
Police investigation continues.
In another matter, a 25-year-old Namibian male hanged himself with a rope on a tree in Windhoek’s Northern Industrial Area on Wednesday at around 14h00.
A suicide note was left behind, in which the deceased only pleads for forgiveness from his family and friends for taking his own life.
The deceased was identified as Erkki Letukwafa Shetuhanga and his next of kin were informed.
In yet another unrelated incident, a 64-year-old Namibian female was allegedly found lying dead in a pool of blood on Tuesday night at Machita in the Zambezi region. She was identified as Theresia Bwanjili. No police arrests were made and her next of kin were informed.
