Two police officers die in head-on collision in Kavango East

RUNDU, 28 DEC (NAMPA) – Two police officers died at Ngarama Teya village in Kavango East when their vehicle collided head-on with a truck on Friday.
The region’s Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa the car in which the two police officers died had seven occupants.
“The driver of the truck, who is a Zambian national, escaped unhurt,” he said.
According to Kanyetu the truck was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it collided head-on with the police vehicle, which was driving from Ndiyona where two inmates were picked up from the police station.
“Three police officers and two inmates had to be rushed to the Rundu State Hospital, where all five are in critical condition,” Kanyetu said.
The names of the police officers who died in the accident have not yet been released as their next of kin are yet to be informed.
Police investigations continue.
