RUNDU, 28 DEC (NAMPA) - Nurses at the Rundu State Hospital’s maternity ward were kept busy on Christmas as nine babies were born on the day.
Five boys and four girls were born, senior registered nurse Justina Shoopala told Nampa on Friday, adding that she cannot recall any other Christmas Day when they delivered this many babies.
“Eight women gave birth naturally and one baby was born via caesarean section. The eight have all gone home and only the mother who gave birth via C-section is still in the hospital,” Shoopala said.
Naimi Thomas, who gave birth via C-section, said her wish was to give birth on Christmas Day and it came true.
The 32-year-old Thomas from Ndama settlement in Rundu gave birth to a baby girl, who is also her first child.
“Bringing a new life into the world just makes my holiday more joyous,” she said.
