KEETMANSHOOP, 27 DEC (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the //Kharas Region recorded minimal crime incidents during Christmas Day and Family Day.
In an interview with Nampa on Thursday, NamPol’s acting head for the//Kharas Region, Deputy Commissioner Tauno Hamukoto said apart from a few housebreaking and driving under the influence of alcohol incidents recorded, the region is very quiet in terms of crime.
Hamukoto said the factors that have contributed to the low crime include people having left the region to other parts of the country for the festive period.
He said NamPol has collaborated with the Correctional Services and Namibian Defence force (NDF) in the fight against crime.
“Our members, together with Correctional Service and NDF are patrolling all over (and) this is also sending a clear message that we are serious to arrest whoever is not abiding by the law,” he said.
He added that housebreaking cases could increase as many people are out of town and will only report that their houses were broken into when they return.
