OTJIWARONGO, 16 DEC (NAMPA) - A 50-year-old Zambian man died instantly after he lost control over a Ford Ranger pick-up vehicle he was driving.
The car rolled several times on the road between Otjiwarongo and Kalkfeld on Monday morning.
His close relatives are yet to be informed.
The Otjozondjupa Regional Police Public Relations Officers, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha told Nampa in an interview on Monday that the deceased was alone in the vehicle at the time of accident.
“We identified him by his Zambian passport,” Mbeha said, adding that the deceased comes from the Chipata area in Zambia.
She said the deceased was driving from the coast of Namibia via the Kalkfeld road, but overturned his vehicle at about 15 kilometres towards Otjiwarongo.
Mbeha urged all motorists in the country to plan their journeys when travelling for holidays.
“You should start driving early, be patient on the road and also rest when you feel tired. Only drive when you are confident and fresh,” she urged.
A week ago, 11 people lost their lives on the B1 road in the Otjozondjupa Region as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
