ONGWEDIVA, 19 DEC (NAMPA) – The Hotline Football Club in the Ohangwena Region’s Ongenga Constituency is to host a football tournament for youngsters to showcase their talent between 28 and 30 December.
One of the tournament organisers, Vaino Shimutwikeni told Nampa in an interview on Tuesday that the cub sponsors the tournament to the tune of N.dollars 10 000, while other business organisations and companies of goodwill are also requested to materially or financially support the event.
The three-day event will take place at the Hotline Sport Field in the Ongenga Constituency’s Oshali village.
Shimutwikeni pointed out that the tournament seeks also to prepare the younger boys for future national teams.
“It also helps the young generation to realise their potential and to do away with the indulgence of anti-social activities such as alcohol and drug abuse,” stated Shimutwikeni.
Each participating team will register for the tournament with N.dollars 550.
The winning team will be crowned with a floating trophy and N.dollars 5 000, the runners-up take home N.dollars 3 000 and the third-place prize is N.dollars 2 000.
Hotline is a football club established in 1992 by football-enthusiast, Kondja Nangolo, at Oshali village and the team participated in the Namibia Football Association's second division in the region between 2000 and 2005.
