RUNDU, 18 DEC (NAMPA) Josef Dinyando was re-elected as chairperson of the Divundu Village Council for a third term last Friday.
His vice, Josofine Maghambayi, was also re-elected, while Fulgentia Mukendenge, Frans Mwamo and Christopher Kupembona remain council members.
In his acceptance speech made available Tuesday, Dinyando said 2018 had challenges of which the major one was the national economic downturn that brought major projects to a standstill.
Regardless of the economic downturn, the Divundu Village Council managed to establish Extension 3 - a new township that is underway with the most basic services - which is making good progress as we speak, he said.
Dinyando said three community meetings were held to sensitise the community about the progress, challenges as well as insights on the village at large.
I proudly announce to you that the valuation roll for the locality of Divundu with 747 properties was successfully approved in court on 23 November this year, Dinyando stated.
The chairperson invited residents, businesses and potential investors to identify concrete projects that can realise economic growth, reduce poverty and create much-needed jobs in Divundu.
We will redouble our efforts to improve the quality of interaction with our residents and clients and maintaining our open door policy, he stressed.
Council and staff, he added, are aware that they will be held accountable for the quality of their service delivery.
All of this, Dinyando said, will be done within the context of fiscal responsibility and according to the high standards of prudent financial management they have set for themselves.
