Boy dies in tragic accident in Omusati

WINDHOEK, 15 DEC (NAMPA) – An eight-year-old boy died in the Omusati Region on Saturday after his uncle accidentally ran him over while parking his car.
The Head of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Public Relations Division, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi said at the weekly crime briefing here on Sunday the incident occurred at Etilyasa village in the Otamanzi Constituency at around 21h00.
“The driver of a Toyota pick-up who was allegedly trying to park his car at a house ran over a child in the process and he died on the scene,” he said, adding that the driver was the boy’s uncle.
The victim has been identified as Nuukulu Andreas Nasaantu.
No arrest has been made in the matter, and Kanguatjivi said the docket will be forwarded to the Prosecutor-General for a decision.
At Oshituku village in the Outapi Constituency, a nine-year-old boy drowned in an earth dam not far from his homestead on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Johannes Shihoya Andjamba.
Kanguatjivi said he had been swimming when the incident occurred.
