OTJIWARONGO, 14 DEC (NAMPA) – More than 120 pensioners received food hampers from Erongo Marine Enterprises at Otjiwarongo Thursday.
Dr Martha Uumati, the managing director of the fishing company based in Walvis Bay, handed over the hampers at an event organised by the Otjozondjupa Regional Council.
The hampers amongst others contained tinned fish, flour, maize meal, sugar, tea, lotion and soap and were worth N.dollars 35 000 in total.
“It is Christmas time, and we are happy to reach out and plough back into our communities in this small way,” said Uumati.
She added that her company on Wednesday handed out the same hampers to pensioners at Mariental in the Hardap Region and they plan to do the same at Khorixas in the Kunene Region next.
Uumati used the same platform to donate 3 360 tins of fish to the office of Otjozondjupa Governor, Otto Ipinge for use in food for work community projects.
Special Advisor to the Governor, John //Khamuseb received the donation.
“We thank you for this donation which is a good gesture, encouraging all of us to eat healthy and consume more fish we have produced ourselves,” he said.
