WINDHOEK, 06 DEC (NAMPA) - Music producer and artist Pontianus 'Ponti' Dikuua released his 15-track album on Wednesday after 13 years of featuring on other artists’ songs and creating tracks for movies such as ‘Salute’.
Introducing his album titled ‘Finally’ at a media launch in Windhoek, Ponti explained that the decision to release the long-awaited album was due to demands from his fans.
“I decided to release my long awaited album after 13 years because every year someone would ask when the album would be released,” he said.
The Namibia Annual Music Awards nominee, who joined the music industry in 2005, applauded his wife for pushing him into releasing the album.
Ponti explained that throughout the last 13 years, he has been producing music for artists such as Michael Pulse, featuring with artists like former Tswazi group member Checkmate and mainly focusing on his family life.
The versatile artist has been writing and producing the album for the last two years and it includes four different genres - African house; R&B; Afro-Punk and Funk.
Some of the featured artists are DJ Helio Baiano, Jester Joker and Nia.
The music producer of MAD productions said the songs were mostly mixtures of English and Xhosa, with a little bit of Damara.
Describing the album, Ponti said “I wanted to remain in the R&B genre yet have a dance vibe and this led me to the African House genre, which features mostly.”
His favourite song on the album is ‘Who I Am’.
“It is in remembrance of my mother and the words are the lessons and words she imprinted on me,” he said.
Ponti emphasised that he does not want to do continuous live performances, but will do a few to promote his album.
In keeping with currents trends, the album was uploaded onto Soundcloud, Donlu, Deezer and Itunes for sale instead of on CDs.
