RUNDU, 05 DEC (NAMPA) - Siurungu village will host the Kavango West Rural Federation Super Cup (KWRFSC), a tournament that will see teams playing in the Kavango West Rural Federation football division competing for honours.
Siurungu is situated three kilometres west of Nkurenkuru.
The Super Cup will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the village sports grounds, said Muhuli Johan Mufana, the organiser and owner of Kassie-Line Printing which is sponsoring the tournament in an interview with Nampa on Wednesday.
The tournament will be played by teams playing in that division which will also serve as an opportunity for the constituencys football teams selecting committees to select their players that will represent them at the upcoming Kavango West Governors Cup, he said.
Seven constituencies in the Kavango West Region are expected to assemble teams to represent them in the Kavango West Governors Cup, which takes place on 14 and 15 December at Nkurenkuru.
Mufana said teams that want to take part in the tournament and have not registered yet, can assemble at the Siurungu football field on Friday for registration from 14h00.
The registration fee for the Super Cup is only N.dollars 200.
Only teams from the rural federation football division are eligible to take part in the tournament, said the organiser. This means teams and players in the second and first divisions are not allowed to take part in the competition since it is meant for rural football development.
We have only allowed teams and players from the rural federation because we want to develop football in this division, said Mufana.
Any team found guilty of fielding a player from a higher division will be disqualified from the tournament.
The winning team will walk away with a floating trophy, N.dollars 1 800 and soccer nets while the second place winner gets N.dollars 1 400 and soccer balls.
The team that takes third place will get N.dollars 1 000 and the team in the fourth position will get N.dollars 750.
