Two men arrested for armed robbery at Ndiyona

RUNDU, 03 DEC (NAMPA) – Two men were arrested on Friday for an alleged armed robbery at a shop at Ndiyona in the Kavango East Region.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)'s Kavango East Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa on Monday the men allegedly entered the shop around 20h00, held the owner at gunpoint and robbed him of N.dollars 8 500 in cash as well as a laptop valued at N.dollars 6 000.
They were arrested later that night and are expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
In another incident, a woman whose age is still unknown was also arrested on Saturday for being in possession of controlled wildlife products and unpolished diamonds.
She was arrested at Shinyungwe village in the Ndiyona district with two elephant tusks and 58 unpolished diamonds.
The unpolished diamonds, Kanyetu said, were sent to the NamPol headquarters in Windhoek for their value to be determined.
The incident took place around 00h30.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
