Minibus with 16 occupants overturns at Sitenda village

RUNDU, 02 DEC (NAMPA) – A minibus with 16 occupants overturned at Sitenda village in the Kavango West Region on Saturday.
The Namibian Police Force’s Head of Operations in the region, Deputy Commissioner William Peter told Nampa on Sunday the accident occurred around 04h00.
The minibus, with a trailer attached, was heading to Harare in Zimbabwe from Windhoek.
“One of the rear tyres burst and the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn,” the deputy commissioner said.
Twelve of the passengers were rushed to the Rundu State Hospital and they were said to be in stable condition.
Meanwhile in a separate incident at Sitenda, a 38-year-old man was arrested on Friday after he was found in possession of two parcels of cannabis valued at N.dollars 3 628.
He was arrested around 14h00 during an ongoing festive season police operation in the region.
The suspect will appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
