Gunners lose as UNAM, Pirates register first wins

WINDHOEK, 02 DEC (NAMPA) – Mighty Gunners Football Club registered their first defeat of the season when they lost 1-0 at home to Orlando Pirates in a Namibia Premier League match played at Mokati Stadium in Otjiwarongo on Saturday.
Table topping Gunners had played and won their first three league matches of the season, giving them a maximum nine points so far.
However, they fell to a Likuis Alfons goal in the second half of the match on Saturday, which saw them drop points for the first time this season, but remaining top of the log.
This was a first victory for Pirates, who had so far drawn one game and lost two.
Meanwhile, University of Namibia (UNAM) also recorded their first win of the season when they beat Eleven Arrows 1-0 at Sam Nujoma Stadium on the same day.
UNAM had lost two and drawn one of their three matches played so far this season.
In the other match played at Sam Nujoma Stadium, Black Africa beat Civics 3-0.
New boys Young Brazilians from Karasburg shocked Life Fighters at Mokati Stadium by beating them 2-1.
Blue Waters and Tigers drew 0-0 at the coast.
The NPL continues on Sunday as African Stars lock horns with another new team in the log, Okahandja United at the Sam Nujoma Stadium at 16h00.
