WINDHOEK, 30 NOV (NAMPA) – The Brave Gladiators have added 10 more players to their training squad as part of preparations for continental and international games next year.
The players were called up after they impressed in the Skorpion Zinc Women’s Super League’s first round.
They are Meltret Ujamba from UNAM Bokkies; Asteria Angula, Julia Rutjindo, Anna Shaende and Beverly Uueziua from Galz & Goals; Kylie van Wyk and Selma Enkali from Namib Daughters; Fiola Vliete from V-Power Angels and Beyonce Cloete and Ivone Kooper from Tura Magic.
Team manager Sonny Maharero told Nampa on Friday the team is likely to play a friendly match against Spain in July next year and to participate in the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) Women’s Championship.
Communication from the Namibia Football Association Women’s Desk said they also anticipate competing in the 2019 Under-17 Khomas Youth League or the Under-17 HopSol League in order to gain much needed competitive exposure and match fitness for international fixtures.
The Gladiators will engage in monthly and at times bi-weekly ‘Super Wednesday’ training sessions and friendly games against the best players selected during the Women’s Super League as part of the preparations for next year.
