ARANDIS, 28 NOV (NAMPA) – Arandis mayor Risto Kapenda has retained his position for the fourth consecutive year during an election ceremony that took place at the town council’s chamber on Tuesday.
Kapenda’s deputy Irja Iipinge was also re-elected in her position alongside three other members of the management committee namely Councillor Tuhafeni Jairus, Councillor Onesmus Mangundu as well as Councillor Errikki Kapiye, who is also the chairperson of the Management Committee.
In his acceptance speech, Kapenda congratulated his fellow office bearers whom he labelled ‘formidable and undebatable’ for their commitment and hard work for the town.
“Despite the fact that we belong to different parties, we have managed to forge ahead and make strides in oneness,” the mayor stated.
He added that this spirit will continue as the team takes on yet another year, highlighting the town’s successful implementations, which the council has already managed to improve during the past financial year.
“We have secured major projects of implementation, including an international university hospital, two dry fish factories, a steel manufacturing factory and the reopening of a clothing factory, among others, all of which are expected to kick off in the first quarter of the next calendar year.”
In its efforts to provide housing and accommodation to its residents, the mayor noted that the town council will continue to pay attention to the 10 added extensions, in terms of servicing and allocation to community members.
Ordinary members of the council, Cecillia //Hoabes and Rudolfine Geises will also be serving in the same positions come 2019.
The office bearers were sworn in by Magistrate Nelao Brown.
