REHOBOTH, 27 NOV (NAMPA) - A 50-year-old woman arrested on 20 October for the alleged murder of her 60-year-old boyfriend, Malisiu Vatileni, made her third appearance in the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Julia Ausiku appeared before Magistrate Desmond Beukes who postponed the case to 10 January 2019 for the accused to apply for legal aid and for further police investigations.
The accused was denied bail on the grounds that it would not be in the interest of the public and because investigations are still ongoing.
It is alleged that Ausiku stabbed the deceased in the chest with a kitchen knife. He died in bed, where his body was discovered on 20 October.
It is unknown when exactly the incident took place and what led to the stabbing.
It is also suspected that both the deceased and the accused were under the influence of alcohol the night before the victim’s body was found.
The incident occurred at Farm Platsand, 38 kilometres north of Rehoboth.
Public Prosecutor Victor Mutumbulwa represented the State in the matter.
Ausiku is being detained at the Rehoboth Police holding cells.
