Desert Jewellers starting squad against South Africa announced

WINDHOEK, 27 NOV (NAMPA) – The senior national netball team ‘Desert Jewellers’ announced its starting squad that will face South Africa in the opening match of the Netball Diamond Challenge in Limpopo, South Africa on Tuesday.
The Diamond Challenge features the national team of South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia, as well as an upcoming South African President’s team.
Namibia’s next game in the competition will be against Zimbabwe on Wednesday evening at 19h00.
The teams will play each other in a league round-robin basis from Tuesday to Saturday at the Ngoako Ramatlhodi Indoor Sport Complex in Seshego, Limpopo.
Namibia is using the games to improve their world ranking as well as give new players a chance to play at an international stage.
Namibia is currently ranked 28th in the world by the International Netball Federation.
The highest ranked team at the competition is South Africa in fifth place, Zimbabwe 13th, Zambia 17th and Botswana 22nd.
The Namibian team to face South Africa:
Selma Bittler (wing attack), Imbileni Frans (wing defence), Viva Kamberipa (goal attack), Anna Kaspar (goal scorer), Himee Kutako (goalkeeper), Tjimba Tjipetekera (goal defence), and Uehengisa Tjozongoro (centre).
Reserves: Anna Shipanga, Louise Kaesehua, Chaa Kavari, Uzuvira Uatjiua and Diana Tjejamba.
