WINDHOEK, 26 NOV (NAMPA) – A man was allegedly shot in the head on Saturday at Ondangwa during a reported attempted armed robbery incident at the town.
According to a Namibian Police Force Crime Report issued on Monday, it is alleged that the three unknown suspects approached a Chinese shop at Omwandi Wakamanya known as Maria China shop and attacked the owner.
When the victim’s husband allegedly heard his wife screaming, he came out with a pistol and fired a shot. The suspects reportedly fired back, leading to one of them being shot in the head.
The other two allegedly fled with a GMW pickup truck.
The injured suspect has been admitted in the Onandjokwe State Hospital.
No valuables were taken from the shop and police investigations into the matter continue.
In a separate incident, a cash amount of N$ dollars 50 000 was stolen from a vehicle at Maroela Mall in Ongwediva on Saturday, the report adds.
It is alleged that the complainant withdrew the money from Bank Windhoek at Etango Mall to buy a car, which was on the way from Windhoek.
He went in the mall and upon return the money was missing but no windows were smashed. It is suspected that the suspects followed him and jammed the vehicle.
No arrests have been made in the matter and the money has still not been recovered.
