WINDHOEK, 14 NOV (NAMPA) – Disability Sport Namibia (DSN) will host its awareness day at the Katutura Sports Complex on Friday.
The DSN awareness day will see athletes from the National Paralympic Committee of Namibia (NPC), Deaf Sports and Special Olympics showcase their skills in athletics (track and field), blind football, netball and wheelchair basketball.
NPC secretary general, Michael Hamukwaya told Nampa on Wednesday the purpose of the event is to create awareness about disability sports in Namibia.
“We are calling on everyone to come enjoy our day with us. Those who want to try out blind football, netball, wheelchair basketball or run blindfolded will be allowed to experience it,” he said.
Hamukwaya stated that the day will be all about fun and Namibians should flock to the stadium and mingle with the athletes.
“We have a lot of people who still don’t know what disability sports is all about, so we are looking forward to educate them about the sport.”
The event, sponsored by NamPower, will take place from 08h00 until 11h00.
