Two drownings reported in Kavango East last week

RUNDU, 12 NOV (NAMPA) – Two drownings were reported in the Kavango East Region last week, the police have said.
Namibian Police Force’s Crime Investigations Coordinator for the region, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa on Monday a 34-year-old man drowned while swimming in the Okavango River with friends in the Buffalo Core area at Divundu last Thursday.
He has been identified as Junius Sam Mati.
“His body has still not been found, but his next of kin have been informed,” Kanyetu said.
In the other incident, a nine-year-old boy drowned in the same river at Mukwe around 13h00 last Friday.
“The boy, who has been identified as Disco Stefanus Ruhuka, had been swimming,” Kanyetu said.
Ruhuka’s body was recovered and an inquest docket opened.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
