AMUTEYA, 10 NOV (NAMPA) Designate Omukwaniilwa (king) of Ondonga, Fillemon Shuumbwa Nangolo has denied that he, along with some senior councillors, attempted to overthrow the serving Omukwaniilwa, Immanuel Kauluma Elifas by registering a court case against him.
Nangolo denied the allegation whilst addressing the community during his visit to the Ondonga Traditional Authority (OTA)s Amuteya District on Thursday.
He told a group of about 500 members of the Amuteya community that the elderly and ailing Elifas remains Omukwaniilwa of Ondonga as long as he is alive, and any attempt to dethrone him is a violation of the customs of Aandonga.
Nangolo however, confirmed that Elifas in 2002 presented him to the Ondonga monarchists and mandated him to be his assistant and would-be successor.
He emphasised that his visit to the Ondonga communities is within the power vested in him by Elifas to assist him in bringing the message of peace and unity to his subjects.
Remove me from this seat immediately, once you see me operating against Kuku Omukwaniilwa Kauluma Elifas, Nangolo told those present.
He indicated that only Elifas has the power to undo his appointment as designate king, adding that those doubting his appointment as assistant Omukwaniilwa have a vendetta to cause confusion in the Ondonga community.
Nangolo was delivering his address in the presence of OTA senior councillor for Amuteya, Vilho Kamanya and senior councillor Joseph Asino of Oniiwe District, who are some of the senior councillors reportedly dismissed by Elifas in July last year due to alleged gross misconduct.
Kamanya told the meeting that Amuteya remains under his leadership, and anybody claiming to be the new senior councillor of the district should be rejected.
Peter Kauluma (Ongula yaNetanga District), Joseph Asino (Oniiwe District) and John Walenga (Ondangwa District) are the senior councillors of Ondonga dismissed along with Kamanya.
They have since registered a case with the High Court at Oshakati where they want Elifas to be called in to testify and confirm that he indeed authorised their dismissal.
Naeman Fillemon Kambala is said to have replaced Kamanya as new senior councillor for Amuteya and he, together with Paavo Amwele (Ondangwa B), Erastus Mvula (Ondangwa A), Nepando Amupanda (Ongula yaNetanga) and Rainhold Nepolo (Oniiwe) are the new senior councillors.
