Mariental murder accused’s case postponed to January

REHOBOTH, 06 NOV (NAMPA) – A man arrested for the alleged murder of 51-year-old Willem Johannes Pieters in Mariental on 25 July, made his third appearance in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Patrick Skrywer, 57, appeared before Magistrate Verinao Kamahene, who postponed the matter to 29 January 2019 for further investigations and to allow for the accused’s legal aid application to be finalised.
It is alleged that Skrywer stabbed Pieters in his throat in Mariental’s Ombili informal settlement. Pieters succumbed to his injuries on 26 July in the Mariental State Hospital, where he was rushed to soon after the incident.
Public Prosecutor Reinhardt Jacobs represented the State in the matter.
Skrywer remains in custody at the Mariental Police holding cells.
