SWAKOPMUND, 03 NOV (NAMPA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation has cautioned Swapo Party members to stay away from corruption activities.
Nandi-Ndaitwah was speaking in her capacity as the party’s Vice President during the official opening of the Swapo Party Women Council (SPWC) workshop here on Saturday.
“Corruption is a none-curable cancer once allowed to occur. So, one of the reasons we are conducting this workshop is to ensure that the SPWC members understand their responsibilities towards themselves, Swapo members and Namibian nation at large,” Nandi-Ndaitwah stressed.
She stated that any person involved in corruption does not have the interest of the country at heart.
“Corruption is also anti-developmental and once you allow it in the country, it will never develop, but will rather keep going in circles.
However once we follow what the party constitutions entails, corruption will become a non-issue,” Nandi-Ndaitwah added.
The aim of the two-day workshop is to understand the statutes and policies of the SPWC.
SPWC Secretary, Eunice Iipinge at the same occasion said that the party members are keen to follow the rules and conduct in order to behave in the manner that is expected of them.
She further expressed pride that no member of the women’s wing has violated any rules and conduct so far.
The workshop, which started on Friday, will also discuss the party’s code of conduct in detail, its constitution in general as well as address the procedures on the election of office bearers.
The workshop ends on Saturday.
