NBF selects 3x3 national basketball teams

REHOBOTH, 29 OCT (NAMPA) – The Namibian Basketball Federation (NBF) selected two teams during its annual 3X3 International Basketball Federation (IBF) Young Lions Cup Tournament finals for the Under-18’s to represent Namibia in Botswana early next year.
Young Beasts and The Janitors were the winners in the female and male categories respectively, during the games played at Katutura Youth Complex in Windhoek on Saturday and will represent the country in Gaborone in the Under-18 games slated for January 2019.
A media statement availed to Nampa on Monday said the 3X3 version of basketball is very popular internationally and as such, the NBF has branched out the sport in the various regions countrywide.
It said what began as regional quests of qualifying tournaments in the respective regions, led to a very eventful regional selective tournament in the capital this past weekend.
All the quests sent their top three teams to Windhoek to compete with fellow regions in a bid to become either the male or female representatives at the U-18 3X3 Young Lions champion.
