WINDHOEK, 29 OCT (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Gender-Based Violence Protection Unit in Katutura is on the hunt for a 20-year-old man who allegedly mutilated an eight-year old girl’s private parts before raping her.
The rape incident occurred on Friday at about 16h00 at farm Satan Stocht in the Khomas Region.
According to NamPol’s weekend crime report issued on Monday, it is alleged that the victim and another child were left in the care of the suspect, who instead threatened to harm them before one of them ran away.
“The suspect got hold of the victim, threatened her with a knife and tried to rape her but because penetration could not take place, he took a knife, cut her private part and had sexual intercourse with her,” the police report stated.
The known suspect then fled the scene into the nearby mountains before a search for him was initiated.
“The victim is admitted at Windhoek Central Hospital and her condition is very critical,” the police said.
In a separate incident in Okambahe in the Erongo Region, a man believed to be between the ages of 20 and 23 allegedly raped a 27-year-old woman, with whom he was home with in the late hours of Saturday.
“The suspect allegedly dragged her, hit her with a stone on the head and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent. The victim allegedly managed to escape and reported the matter to her family and the police,” the report said.
The victim sustained minor injuries to the head and was taken to Omaruru State Hospital.
The suspect is still at large and police investigations continue.
