Body of drowned man discovered at Swakopmund

SWAKOPMUND, 26 OCT (NAMPA) - The body of a person suspected to have drowned on 15 October was discovered by a passer-by on the beach in Swakopmund on Thursday afternoon.
According to a police crime report issued by Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu on Friday, the deceased, who has been identified as 28-year-old Filipus Nghiningwanai Nuyoma, fell into the sea from the Jetty
A subsequent search for his body then commenced, ending in its discovery on the beach along Platz Am Meer on Thursday.
According to Iikuyu, it is still not clear whether the deceased jumped or fell into the sea and an inquest docket will be opened for investigations.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed of his death.
In an unrelated incident, a biker died upon his arrival at the Swakopmund State Hospital on Thursday, after his motorbike reportedly collided with a sedan on a traffic circle towards the Ocean View residential area.
It is reported that the sedan, which was in front of the motorbike, made an unexpected and illegal U-turn, causing the collision with the motorbike.
The accident took place between 16h30 and 17h00.
The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Steven Williams.
His next of kin have been informed of his death.
The driver of the sedan and the passenger she was carrying were unharmed.
No arrest has been made in the matter, however, a case of culpable homicide and negligent driving is being investigated.
