RUNDU, 23 OCT (NAMPA) – A woman was struck by lightning and died on the spot on Sunday at the Mukekete village south-west of Nkurenkuru in the Kavango West Region.
The deceased has been identified as 43-year-old Malyata Cleoteria Ngeve, a resident of the same village.
Namibian Police Regional Commander, Commissioner Josephat Abel told Nampa on Tuesday Ngeve was struck at an unknown time and her body was transported to the Nankudu District Hospital.
Abel said the rainy season has started and deaths from lightning are common in his region.
He advised people especially in rural areas not to walk around in open spaces when it rains.
“People should by all means stay indoors,” he urged.
