Bahnhof-Usib road accident victim identified

REHOBOTH, 22 OCT (NAMPA) - The 49-year-old man who died in an accident near Rehoboth on Saturday has been identified as Rickerd van Wyk.
The Namibian Police Force’s Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay told Nampa on Monday the car he was travelling in left the road and overturned on the Bahnhoff-Usib road around 18h00.
It is alleged that the driver of the Volkswagen Jetta with Rehoboth registration lost control over the vehicle on a bend and it left the road.
The driver, who was injured, was found to be over the legal alcohol limit and was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital in Rehoboth under police guard.
His condition is serious but stable.
The other three passengers escaped with slight injuries.
The deceased’s next of kin have have been informed of his death.
