REHOBOTH, 15 OCT (NAMPA) – The man who was allegedly hit and killed by a train in the early hours of Saturday in Mariental has on Monday been identified as Cornelius Dawid Pieters, a sergeant in the Namibian Police Force (NamPol).
NamPol’s Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay, told Nampa on Saturday that the body of the 31-year-old was discovered by a TransNamib worker, who reported for duty on Saturday morning.
Two body parts belonging to the deceased were found lying between the railway lines, suggesting that the deceased must have been run over by a train.
A culpable homicide case was opened and investigations into the matter continue.
