RUNDU, 15 OCT (NAMPA) – The body of a 10-year-old boy who drowned in the Okavango River at Mupapama village in the Kavango East Region on Friday has been recovered.
The body of the deceased, identified as Sifura Rufinus, was recovered on Saturday, the Namibian Police Force’s Crime Investigations Coordinator in the region, Deputy Commissioner Bonifasius Kanyetu, confirmed to Nampa on Monday,
Kanyetu said Rufinus and two of his age mates went swimming on Friday at around 16h00 when the incident happened.
At first he added the police thought that the boy might have been caught by a crocodile but after the body surfaced the police noticed that the body had no injuries on it and presumed drowning to be the actual cause of death.
His next of kin have been informed and police investigations into the matter continue.
