Man dies on Ovitoto gravel road

OTJIWARONGO, 14 OCT (NAMPA) – A 37-year-old man died instantly after a pick-up vehicle he was travelling in left the road and hit a big rock on the gravel road between Ovitoto and Okahandja on Saturday afternoon.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha on Sunday said the deceased has been identified as Rodney Zaire.
His close relatives have been informed of his death.
Mbeha said the accident occurred some 20 kilometres outside Okahandja on the road to Ovitoto at about 16h00.
Four other occupants including the driver survived the incident with light to serious injuries.
They were transported to the Okahandja State Hospital and Katutura Intermediate Hospital in the capital for medical assistance.
A culpable homicide docket has been opened against the driver and police investigations continue.
