REHOBOTH, 13 OCT (NAMPA) - A body of a Namibian man was discovered on Saturday at about 06h45 between the railway lines at the TransNamib premises in Mariental.
The Namibian Police Force’s Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay, told Nampa on Saturday that the body was discovered by a TransNamib worker, who reported for duty on Saturday morning.
“It is alleged that the deceased person was ran over by a train and that his feet were cut off and the body was dragged for a distance between the rails,” Clay said.
He said it is not known at this stage what transpired and which of the trains traveling between Windhoek and Keetmanshoop ran over the deceased.
Police are investigating a culpable homicide case.
The identity of the deceased is known, but his name cannot be revealed as his next of kin have not yet been informed of his death.
