REHOBOTH, 01 OCT (NAMPA) – Kaizer Chiefs Football Club (FC) from Arandis on Sunday won the Adizonkpak Game on Sports Bar tournament after a hard fought 1-0 victory against home team Bafana Eleven at Haochanas in the Hardap Region.
The match saw the tussle mostly taking place in the midfield, with both teams trying to break the stubborn opposition defenses with their passing game.
The men from the mining town, however, had other plans and upped the pressure in the dying minutes to score the winning goal to collect the winning purse of N.dollars 15 000, 20 gold medals and a floating trophy, while Bafana Eleven received N.dollars 9 000 and 20 silver medals.
The two losing semi-finalists, Dolam Pirates, who lost 4-5 on penalties against Kaizer Chiefs and Brothers United, who lost 1-0 against Bafana Eleven, each received N.dollars 3 000.
Tournament organiser, Ricardo Happiness ||Garoëb told Nampa on Sunday the tournament was a success.
“For Hardap and especially Hoachanas, it is a milestone and a first to have received 32 teams for a tournament; a very successful one played in good spirit by all the participating teams,” ||Garoëb said.
“I would like to take my hat off for all the teams, match officials and everyone that contributed towards this tournament,” he added.
Last year’s winners, Kom Haal Hulle from Leonardville, were dumped out of the competition in their opening match by Stampriet’s Pakamish FC.
