Man shot dead in an argument over alcohol at Okahitua

OTJIWARONGO, 01 OCT (NAMPA) - A 23-year-old man was shot and killed by another man on Sunday afternoon following a heated argument between the two over alcohol.
The deceased, Kavehimbiraeua Karokohe was allegedly shot in the shoulder with a pistol by a 50-year-old man at a bar at Okahitua village in the Okakarara Constituency.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha on Monday told Nampa in an interview that Karokohe died instantly after he was shot once in the right shoulder.
His next of kin have been informed.
The deceased and the suspected man lived in the same village at Orunahi, Mbeha said.
A licensed pistol, which was used in the shooting, was found at the scene and confiscated by the police at about 13h30 on Sunday.
The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Okakarara Magistrates Court on Tuesday on a charge of murder.
