REHOBOTH, 28 SEP (NAMPA) – The Southern Stream First Division play-off matches that were slated for Mariental on Saturday and Sunday were postponed to next weekend and the venue will be Vineta Stadium in Swakopmund.
The five regional second division winners from ||Kharas, Erongo, Hardap, Khomas and Omaheke will vie for three spots left vacant by the promotion of Karasburg-based Young Brazilians and relegation of Northern Stars from Swakopmund and Sport Klub Windhoek at the end of last season.
The teams are Dates Eleven (||Kharas), Hardap Correctional Facility (Hardap), Eleven Champions (Khomas), Swakopmund Football Club (Erongo) and Omahake’s Tura Cosmos.
A letter addressed to the respective chairpersons of the regional second division winners by the Namibian Football Association (NFA) and seen by this agency, stated the postponement was necessitated by unforeseen circumstances beyond the NFA’s control.
“It is against this background that we request your good office to inform your qualified clubs accordingly,” said the letter.
A letter from the Mariental Municipality signed by Chief Executive Officer, Paul Nghiwilepo, addressed to Hardap Region Football Association (HARFA) chairperson, Michael Situde said the council in an ordinary meeting on 24 September resolved to cancel the booking made by HARFA/NFA as the venue has already been booked for a wedding.
