Danie Joubert rewards sport stars

REHOBOTH, 22 SEP (NAMPA) – Damian van der Ross, a Grade 9 learner at the Danie Joubert Combined School in Mariental, scooped the 2018 Sports Star of the Year award at a prize-giving ceremony of that school Friday morning.
Van der Ross won a silver medal in the boys 100 metres at the Confederation of Southern African Schools Sports Association (Cosassa) event in Botswana this year, after being selected for the Namibian under-16 (U-16) athletics team.
He was also taken up in the Cosassa team.
Van der Ross is the second recipient of the award at the school, after Romano van Wyk scooped it last year, which replaced the old Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year awards.
