Mariental police officer assualt case postponed to October

REHOBOTH, 21 SEP (NAMPA) - A police officer arrested in July for allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend at the Mariental State Hospital nurses’ home, made his third appearance in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Samuel Jantze appeared before Magistrate Vincent Nzaca on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The case was postponed to 16 October for his legal aid application to be finalised.
Jantze is out on bail of N.dollars 1 000.
It is alleged that Jantze, a constable at the Mariental Police Station, on 28 July assaulted Eva Kisting, who was eight months pregnant.
He allegedly assaulted Kisting with fists and a belt before damaging property near her room.
Public Prosecutor Reinhard Jacobs represented the State in the matter.
