OTJIWARONGO, 12 SEP (NAMPA) - Two men on Tuesday night survived an accident on the B1 road after a sedan they were travelling in rolled several times before coming to a halt.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha on Wednesday told Nampa upon enquiry that the accident occurred after a 31-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle.
It is alleged that the accident took place at around 20h55, shortly after the driver overtook a truck, some 33 kilometres north of Otjiwarongo.
“The driver and his passenger, whose age is unknown, sustained serious injuries and were both taken to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital the same night,” said Mbeha.
In a separate incident on Wednesday morning, a 28-year-old driver and his passenger, 24, also survived an accident after a pick-up they were travelling in overturned on a curve on the gravel road between Otjiwarongo and Queen Sofia Government Resettlement Farm.
Mbeha said the driver allegedly lost control on a curve causing the vehicle to roll several times.
The duo was taken to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital for further medical attention.
Reckless and negligence cases in both accidents have been opened at the Otjiwarongo Police Station.
Police investigations continue.
