KEETMANSHOOP, 11 SEP (NAMPA) – The Keetmanshoop Agricultural, Industrial and Tourism Expo starts Wednesday and ends on Saturday in the //Kharas Region capital.
The annual expo marks the 62nd time since its commencement in 1956 and takes place at the Westdene Stadium.
Speaking to Nampa on Tuesday, Keetmanshoop Show Society president, Charles Josob said all is in place for them to host a better and bigger event.
“It’s going smoothly. The exhibitors have started putting up their stalls and more people are still calling to find out if we have space; it will surely be a big and successful expo,” he said.
The event will be officially opened on Wednesday by Minister of Finance, Calle Schlettwein.
It aims to bring together partners in trading and building economic friendships for the prosperity of the town of Keetmanshoop and the nation at large, said Josob.
This year’s expo will have 62 exhibitors from all over Namibia and South Africa to showcase their products.
It will feature a music bash, comedy night, child-friendly TV games and motor sports, a snake park, dog show, livestock auction, school arts competition and traditional food stalls, as well as the crowning of Miss Show 2018 on Friday.
Close to 30 stalls are registered for small businesses to sell their products and services.
One of the exhibitors from South Africa Nampa spoke to, Ndikandafhi Mufune said it is the second time they are showcasing and selling their products at the expo.
Mufune represents a small business named Sivon Trading which sells Super Kleen multi-purpose cleaning materials.
“Last year was our first time and we did well, we reached the target that we had set for ourselves, and this year we have a target which we believe we will reach too,” he said.
