WINDHOEK, 11 SEP (NAMPA) – A 56-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head in his parked car about two kilometres from the Daan Viljoen police road traffic checkpoint on Monday.
Namibian Police Force spokesperson, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi on Tuesday said the deceased has been identified as Paulus Tshilunga.
She said it is alleged that the deceased committed the act while seated in a Toyota Land Cruiser next to the road some time between 18h00 on Monday and 07h00 on Tuesday.
“The motive is not known and no suicide note was left behind. His next of kin are informed,” Shikwambi said.
A police officer who lives in the Daan Viljoen area outside Windhoek reportedly observed the vehicle parked alongside the road since Monday. On Tuesday morning upon closer inspection, he discovered the deceased, alerted the authorities and the relevant police personnel were dispatched to the scene.
The firearm used is confirmed to be owned by the deceased and police investigations continue.
