Pensioner allegedly commits suicide at Otavi

OTJIWARONGO, 09 SEP (NAMPA) – The lifeless body of a 68-year-old man believed to have committed suicide was on Sunday found hanging from a tree by a passerby at Otavi in the Otjozondjupa Region.
The deceased has been identified by relatives as Johannes Paulus, who resided in the Blikkiesdorp informal settlement at the town.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa the body was found near the Extension 4 residential area around 07h00 with a piece of wire around his neck.
“The passerby who found it immediately alerted the police,” said Mbeha.
Paulus did not leave behind a suicide note and no foul play is suspected at the moment.
Inquest no. 04/2018 has been opened at the Otavi Police Station.
